You should have a First Look before your wedding ceremony!

A first look before the wedding ceremony has become a popular trend among couples, and for good reason. This special moment, where the couple sees each other for the first time before the ceremony, can be incredibly emotional and meaningful. While some couples prefer to stick with tradition and wait to see each other at the altar, there are several reasons why doing a first look can be a great choice.

You get to have private time before your ceremony.

First and foremost, a first look allows couples to have a private and intimate moment together before the whirlwind of the wedding day begins. It gives them the opportunity to connect, share their feelings, and calm any nerves they may have. This quiet moment can be incredibly special and can help set the tone for the rest of the day.

A first look can lower stress and anxiety.

Additionally, a first look can help alleviate some of the pressure and anxiety that can come with walking down the aisle. Seeing each other before the ceremony allows couples to express their emotions, whether it be excitement, nervousness, or joy, without the added stress of being in front of a crowd. It can also help to ease any pre-wedding jitters and make the ceremony itself feel more relaxed and enjoyable.

Having a first look helps your timeline.

From a logistical standpoint, a first look can also be beneficial in terms of the wedding timeline. By seeing each other before the ceremony, couples can take their bridal party and family photos earlier in the day, allowing for more time to enjoy the cocktail hour and reception with their guests. This can also help to make the day run more smoothly and ensure that everything stays on schedule.

First looks are where you see genuine emotions.

Another advantage of a first look is the opportunity to capture the raw and genuine emotions of the moment. Without the pressure of an audience, couples can react authentically to seeing each other for the first time on their wedding day. This can lead to some truly beautiful and heartfelt photographs that will be cherished for years to come. Some of my favorite photos from my wedding are from our first look. He had tears in his eyes and a huge smile when he looked at me. It just makes my heart melt when I look back at those photos. That’s us in the images below.

It’s okay to go against tradition.

Ultimately, whether or not to do a first look before the wedding ceremony is a personal decision that each couple should make based on their own preferences and values. While some may prefer to stick with tradition and save the big reveal for the ceremony, others may find that a first look offers a special and intimate moment that enhances their overall wedding experience.

In conclusion, a first look before the wedding ceremony can be a wonderful and meaningful experience for couples. From providing a private moment to calm nerves and express emotions, to creating beautiful and authentic photographs, there are many reasons why couples may choose to do a first look on their wedding day. It is a decision that should be made thoughtfully and with consideration for what will make the day most special and memorable for the couple.
